Tips for Cleaning Your Glass Shower Doors

We have more than 40 years of experience and offer professional, affordable shower door installation services. Once you have your new shower door, use the following tips to keep it from getting messy.
Cleaning Off Soap Scum
Soap scum will eventually build up on your new shower door unless you clean it with vinegar. We recommend putting gloves on and then soaking a sponge in a container of white vinegar, and wiping the sponge over the entire door. Let it sit for five minutes, and then wash the vinegar and soap scum away with warm water. You can also do this if rust, calcium, or lime deposits build up on your new shower door. Alternatively, you can use an all-purpose cleaner or a specially formulated bathroom cleaner, which won’t leave the lingering smell of vinegar.
Eliminating Mold and Mildew
Unlike soap scum, which is merely unpleasant to look at, mold and mildew are a health hazard. To get rid of mold and mildew, put on a pair of gloves and then spray a solution of bleach and hydrogen peroxide onto the shower door, as well as all of the gaps and cracks in the shower. You may need to use an old toothbrush to remove mildew and mold that has settled in. After a few minutes, rinse the shower and shower door with warm water. Repeat as many times as you need to.
Removing Water Spots
Water spots are the mineral deposits that are left behind when hard water evaporates. Spray a 50/50 ratio of water and vinegar to the glass shower door, wait a few minutes, and then use a microfiber cloth to wipe the glass. It’s also possible to wet a fabric softener sheet and use it to scrub the glass clear of water spots. Once you’re finished, apply a clear car wax to the glass to prevent water spots from forming in the future.
